A strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of our work together. Whether you are new to counseling or looking to continue prior care, it is important to choose a counselor with whom you connect and who has expertise to treat your needs. In order to establish whether Commonwealth Therapy is right for you, we offer a free half-hour consultation. During this time, you will have a chance to learn more about your counselor’s qualifications and get a feel for whether she is the right fit for your care. Commonwealth Therapy believes that best therapy practices may happen outside the constraints of managed care.
Insurance companies require a formal diagnosis in order to provide benefits. Commonwealth Therapy provides strict privacy for our clients. Many clients do not like to use insurance because the diagnosis you receive in counseling becomes part of your permanent record. Additionally, not all people who benefit from counseling meet criteria for a diagnosis. Ethical standards prevent Commonwealth Therapy from submitting a diagnosis if full criteria are not met.
Insurance companies restrict the number of sessions they will cover. Depending on your needs, effective treatment may require regular sessions beyond those authorized by insurance. At Commonwealth Therapy, we value providing care at the pace that is best for you.
Without the burden of a label and time-constraints, your collaboration with Commonwealth Therapy can be a completely private and individualized treatment process that is tailored to meet your unique needs.
Current rates are $190 for the initial assessment and $160 for ongoing individual counseling sessions. Sliding scale rates are available on a limited basis; please inquire to learn more.
